With Parent Fund gifts great and small, hundreds of parents make a difference every day in the lives of University of Utah students.

List of Programs that Receive Support

Academic Advising Center
  • Strong Interest Inventory Assessment - helps students to understand their interests in relation to a variety of majors and careers.
  • Undecided / Exploring Deans List Event - recognizes the academic achievements of undecided/exploring students who earn Dean's List standing while providing an opportunity to further connect these students to major exploration opportunities.
  • Major Exploration Program - provides information on majors and areas of study to undeclared students. Promotional t-shirts are given to program participants to help promote the program to peers.
  • Third Annual Donut Feel Good Registration Day event – provides an opportunity for first-year students to meet with their academic advisors for help with registering for spring semester classes.
  • The Transfer Program – support for t-shirts given to transfer students to help build community.
Career Services
  • Suit Up work attire program – provides interview appropriate clothing to low-income students upon fulfilling set requirements.
  • Career Treks program – student visits to industry-specific organizations throughout Salt Lake City, helping to identify opportunities for internships and employment and solidify career interests.
Center for New Student and Family Programs
  • Picture Your First Year Program – first-year students document their personal transition from high school to college through art which is then featured in a gallery at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.
  • Campus Life Mentor Program – support for Signal Vine text messaging platform used to increase effectiveness of mentor-student communication.
  • Transfer Program – sponsors t-shirts given to all incoming transfer program participants to increase visibility and build affinity.
Center for Student Wellness
  • Sponsorship of a health & wellness letter mailed to parents of first-year students
Community Partners in the New U Student Experience Mentoring & Scholarship Program
  • Scholarship support for Community Partners program participants to participate in Deeply Engaged Learning Experiences
Counseling Center
  • Provides therapy, classes, and trainings to University of Utah students, faculty and staff – 2017/18 support funds will create a more welcoming waiting room for Counseling Center clients.
Honors College
  • Things That Matter student group – sponsors weekly meetings for students, their advisors and guest speakers to discuss topical concerns and/or hot button issues especially meaningful to the millennial generation.
  • The Next Generation – support for a student group interested in learning about and impacting the K-12 education system through volunteer work at South Kearns Elementary School.
LEAP Program
  • Scholarship funding for outstanding LEAP students.
Lowell Bennion Community Service Center
  • Alternative Breaks Program – support for trip discounts to make alternative break programs more accessible to all students.
LGBT Resource Center
  • Emerging Student Leadership Program – support for student leaders to attend the National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Creating Change Leadership Conference.
MUSE Project
  • MUSE Scholars Program – a community of students dedicated to the intellectual inquiry and cultural exchange found at the heart of the college experience.
Office of Engagement
  • Beacon Scholars Program – scholarship funding for underrepresented and financial need students.
  • Dream Center – support for the Dream Ambassadors Program, a student-lead outreach and access initiative for undocumented students and children of immigrants in Utah.
  • Defining Your Path Field Trip Program – brings underrepresented K-12 students to campus to learn about opportunities at the University of Utah.
Office of Undergraduate Research
  • Provides student research assistantships in the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program
Personal Money Management Center
  • Smart Start Workshop – focusing on women’s salary negotiations
Veterans Support Center
  • Emergency Funds – supports students who encounter financial emergencies and are at risk of dropping out.
Women’s Enrollment Initiative
  • Seeks to improve recruitment, retention and graduation rates for women university-wide. 
Women's Resource Center
  • Emergency Funds – supports students who encounter financial emergencies and are at risk of dropping out.
